‘Hearts Once Carved Upon a Tree’

Two hearts carved high upon a tree -
initials you had carved for me.
It seems a hundred years ago
I walked with you, my heart aglow.

We were so young and life was great.
You fell for me; you took the bait.
I let you chase til I was caught;
a diamond ring would soon be bought.

I only had to wait a while
before you marched me down the aisle.
For fifty years I’ve been your wife
and only sometimes been in strife.

We’ve raised a family; four in all.
Each one now standing straight and tall.
With grandkids – we have six in tow -
just two have wed – more kids to show.

Who would have thought so long ago,
when first we said our shy ‘Hello’,
we’d have a fam’ly – twenty three!
from hearts once carved upon a tree.

Nice poem Jackie

You're a bit of a romantic your self.

Loved it Jakki expecially
I let you chase til I was caught;
That's a classic :lol: You met the challenge as well and seems another romantic in the field - Well done

I think you might need a few more grandkids to make up the numbers Jakki! :)
