As I Sit Me Down To Write
I wish I were prolific.
With ideas and words terrific,
via themes quite unspecific,
as I sit me down to write.
I yearn for inspiration
to assist me with creation.
All I’m feeling is frustration
as I sit me down to write
I’m not trying to be arcane.
My favourite Chinese is Chow Mein.
Something simple, something plain
as I sit me down to write.
Just a line or two with meaning
with no mind blocks intervening,
to surrender I am leaning
as I sit me down to write.
But Eureka! Think I’ve got it.
Took me long enough to spot it.
Oh buggar! No, that’s not it.
But I sit me down despite.

Re: As I Sit Me Down To Write
Thanks Heather, Neville, Ron.
I do sit at my computer at times with the aim of writing. Just that ... I'm going to write something. But unfortunately the bull eye urinates off before I can get a line on it. I envy writers, who are inspired to write about something seen, heard or experienced. The last time I can remember being really inspired I was 16 and if I told you what inspired me I'd probably be excommunicated from the forum. Ahh well ... there's always tomorrow.

Re: As I Sit Me Down To Write
Ah Wazza, there is a story that someone asked the great French painter Camille Corot; what was the one thing to do to become a great artist. He replied said " take up the brush and begin "
Another person (I can't recall the name) said " if you don't know where to start, start anywhere "
I think one of the best routines, that I believe was followed by people of supposed inspiration, was that you just carry around a small notebook in your pocket and write down any thing seen or heard that seems interesting, in no particular order. Later you can go through it and find that you have a collection of very fertile material to "inspire " your writing. You've got to work at inspiration.
If I'm not inspired I fear it is because I am too lazy.
