Thank You Hughie.

When Dorothea Mackellar wrote this sunburnt land for me
I doubt that she had ever seen how vicious it could be.
Oh yes she wrote of how she always pays us back with rains
But this is just ridiculous and it’s pouring out my drains.

It is coming down now by the bucket full and cutting all the roads
I went to check the rain gauge and my yards covered in toads.
There is mould appearing on my walls and over all my books
and down the back I’ve got no eggs just saturated chooks.

Australia day is next week and there is so much on the card
just finding a dry place to sit will be really bloody hard.
The highway will be flooded with the Fitzroy on the way.
Hey why don’t they build a levee to keep the tides at bay.

Oh come to Queensland they all say the sun shines every day
the sun must be on holidays cause all I see are skys of grey.
It’s climate change they reckon and the ice caps they are melting
I just stuck my head outside again and it still has not stopped pelting.

I suppose at least the plants will grow and our farmers need the rain
but I pity those mums stuck inside with kids going off their brain.
But worst of all I tell ya though I’m not the kind to try and shirk.
No matter just how hard it pours I still have to go to work.

So I’ll put on my hat and rain suit, rubber boots as I get dressed
A thermos full of coffee and a nice warm woollen vest.
Queensland ! Maybe it is paradise but put it in context
Beautiful on one day sure, but soaking wet the next.

Ha Ha nice one Bob. I was a climate change sceptic in the beginning but I've done an about face. Too many unusual weather happenings around the world for there not to be something going on. No fishing trips for awhile.
