CYCLONE MARCIA – An Acrostic Poem
Maureen Clifford © The Scribbly Bark Poet

Can you imagine just how this will end?
Yasi is a memory now
Can you believe that another one looms?
Like a rabid beast who glowers and glooms
Oh how we tremble – hiding in our rooms
Now she beats a path to our door
Escape is an option no more

Marcia’s blown in like a tart to a pub
And flaunts all her petticoats grey.
Rustling and rattling the roofs on the town
Chomping and cutting our lovely trees down
It’s quite horrendous. Would she have us drown?
Ah! Now she is going away.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
