I still recall dancing the Pride of Erin, and waiting for that special someone to come my way, just for that fleeting moment in time.

Thanks for the memories :)

Whatever happened to the Pride of Erin? We had to do it first year of high school.

We all used to get up for this one - it was easy to do - and you got dance with lots of girls.

Understood Heather - I feel much the same about dancing with boys.

AND remember folks, dancing is a contact sport. It also, they say, helps prevent Dementia so my companion and I try to dance at the Seniors' Centre twice a week. New Vogue dancing has been here a long time, it is good mental exercise but occasionally we have the 'Gay Gordon' which of course is the progressive mix-it dance where I get to dance with all of the ladies in the hall. Not what some might think.
Ian.

Wonderful poem Terry and it brings back a few pleasant memories. I met Robyn, later to be my wife, at a place called Sedan Dip, about seventy km out of Cloncurry. It was where cattle from the north were brought and dipped before continuing south. There was nothing else there except a bush race track and a hall. Once a year a bush racing program was held there followed by a dance. I was teaching in Cloncurry at the time and had also got myself a job as vocalist with the local dance band. The Sedan Dip meet brought graziers and townies from all over, for the races, the dance, a bbq and lashings of grog. Interesting to read that the Pride of Erin was the change partner's dance remembered by you and others. In my time it was always the Barn Dance which was only ever known as the Progressive Barn Dance.
Thanks for the poem,
Wazza
