Homework W/E 18.1.16 'The Dream'

Post by jakkimay » Tue Jan 05, 2016 12:57 pm

I've been busy. What else does one do when it's wet and miserable outside?

I know it's a bit daft, but I used all the prompts. :P

‘The Dream’

I was alone on a desert island;
I was lost, but didn’t know how.
How I struggled discovering answers
that my mind just wouldn’t allow.

I was confused, exhausted and hungry;
I had to find something to eat.
Was there anyone else on this island
to help this adventurous feat?

I was walking around and discovered,
to my utmost delight and glee,
a young stranger so ruggedly handsome,
set before me on bended knee.

He was tall and his muscles, they glistened
and I had my head in the clouds.
My overactive imagination -
just us two without any crowds.

Something stirred in the bushes around me;
I couldn’t quite make out the sound.
Which was the rightful way of direction?
It sounded a bit like a hound.

With a brand new day about to transpire,
I came down to earth with a thud.
I was trying to swim through molasses
or maybe a quagmire of mud.

With my eyelids stuck - glued in position -
I struggled to open my eyes.
With my stranger dissolving before me,
disappearing into the skies.

I was thrashing about through the quagmire
when I thought I heard someone scream.
And suddenly, reality hit me -
it was really only a dream!

Hmm, think I've had a few dreams like that Jakki! :lol: Innovative use of the prompts and an enjoyable read.

I really like this Jakki! Just love quirky poems - and it actually reminds me a bit of Spike Milligan :D
