A leap of Faith
They said I had to make the leap
a leap of faith they said.
I said Ya bloody kidding aren't ya
you lot are off ya head.
Get used to it they told me
this is how we get our kicks.
We jump out of planes all the time
and sometimes fall like bricks.
Hey mate I told the leader straight
I joined this club on a whim
and I don't need this danger stuff
put myself out on a limb.
I tell you all that it's not needed
and not one of my favourite things.
If I was meant to flaming fly
I'd have been born with bloody wings.
I'm much more inclined to go fine dining
or have a coldie down the pub.
Are you sure it's me that has to jump
or can I call out for a sub.
I stood there in the doorway
and I was packing them no doubt.
I tell ya I was gonna jump at sometime
but the bastard pushed me out.
Count to ten before you pull the cord
the instructors words run true.
The ground was rising quickly up to meet me
and my hands were turning blue.
I ripped the cord and felt the drag
as the chute billowed above me.
I'd live to fight another day
but one jumps enough for you see.
Next time before I sign up
with some club that comes around.
I'll make sure that everything they do
is anchored firmly on the ground.
