Homework for week ending 18th July 2016 - Search and Rescue
SEARCH AND RESCUE ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet
The dogs gone missing,
temperature's below zero and even the pigeons shiver.
I've had no sleep,
and through the window I see the empty bench.
I turn away -
she is so small and not too old.
Outside the black tarmac ribbon stretches in both directions,
it is empty -
no dog, no cars and now I am bent on retrieval.
Lead in hand I set off, calling her name.
Will she remember it?

This one really hit home Maureen. It pretty much describes the events of the past week for our family. The old black lab from the caravan park went missing ten days ago-just up and vanished after suffering a stroke. There's no doubt she has probably succumbed to age and ill health but its the not knowing.
Cheers

Oh that is terrible Sue -poor old girl. I sympathize completely having lost one of my dogs in similar circumstances.

Oh dear Maureen, I hope that is just a work of imagination. A nice bit of free verse.

Thank you Catherine and Neville ...It actually happened and scared the bejesus out of me. Came home one day to find my old girl gone, Elly is 11 now, totally deaf and going blind from cataracts and for some reason best known to her she got under the gate after a bit of digging. Whether it was because she has a new brother and felt a bit disgruntled or whether it was a senior moment I don't know. I found her but believe you me I was panicking.
