Homework Week ending 18th July - Lost dog lament.
OK - need some help here.
Can someone finish this and put in the last prompt 'not the genuine article'?
I'm stumped!
Lost dog lament
A sign on a post at the side of the road
laments that a dog has gone missing,
down black tarmac ribbons I trudge on alone
my thoughts occupied reminiscing.
It’s so blinkin’ cold, below zero they say
and some mittens would be a big help -
when out of the scrub tears that very lost dog,
with a howl and a squeal and a yelp!
It scuttles me flat and all my worldly goods
are scattered then in the upheaval
the mutt doubles back and then gnaws at my leg
while I’m bent on possession retrieval!

It chewed up my shoe into all little bits
then it spat out each slime covered particle
I fought off its jaws and took off down the street.
I thought It's not the genuine article.
So I've decided that I will leave lost dogs alone
and concentrate on my fitness and fun.
But the next time I venture down that bloody street
you can bet it will be at a run.

Nice work all. I'm often stumped for an ending Owly and a beginning and a middle and an idea ... the list goes on.

Here you go Wendy I had a fiddle with it.

A sign on the post at the side of the road
indicates there's a good dog for sale.
A tough working breed, mix of kelpie and blue
but born with a short stumpy tail.
He's a bit of a bitzer and here one must say
there's Smithfield and Dingo in the mix.
Not the genuine article is he - no way...
but he's found himself in quite a fix.
So a good home is sought with some kind farming folk
for this bloke will earn all of his tucker,
but alas he takes off at all pit stops - alas
he just isn't the dog for a trucker.
