Homework WE 9/1/17 - One Man's Vision

Post by Shelley Hansen » Mon Jan 02, 2017 11:17 am

Hopefully I'm always up for the challenge, Maureen ... though sometimes you make it hard!! ;) :D

One Man's Vision

(c) Shelley Hansen 2/1/17

Only in Australia where the outback plains are vast
spatial separation proved a challenge in the past.
Then a man of vision - in the early days of flight -
brought remotest folk a gleam of hope to ease their plight.

Risking denigration of detractors who believed
failure would be likely for this concept he'd conceived,
pressing on regardless - he determined to succeed,
knowing his endeavours would fulfill a long-felt need.

Now across the country, doctors fly by night and day
answering distress calls in the most efficient way.
First responders many times to bring assistance in ...
we salute the foresight of the Reverend John Flynn!

A most appropriate use of the prompts, Shelley...Flynn was definitely a man of vision.

Cheers

Thanks David. Yes, many people owe their lives to RFDS.

Nicely done Shelley and a beaut use of the prompts as well. The RFDS is an integral part of life on any outback station in Australia - the lives they have saved would be too many to count, but I know that many folks have been absolutely overjoyed and thankful to see that little speck in the sky coming closer and closer to them - the difference the Drs and Nurses and Pilots make to people in our inland areas is immeasurable.
