H'work for w/e 20.3.17 ....ON THE ROAD AGAIN

ON THE ROAD AGAIN ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet

It's a Sunday morning madness that descends across the land
in the early hours, when it's still dark a dedicated band
of folks out on a bargain hunt move out across the city
and travel to north, east and west searching for bargains pretty.

Croissants and coffee in their hands - thank God for Golden Arches
the place to go when hunger looms and when a thirst that parches
lips and cheeks and epiglottis demands coffee hot and quick -
there's no other place delivers such variety to pick.

The tyre kickers always throng - they are the worst time wasters,
they'll haggle over twenty cents for an unused turkey baster,
and expect something for nothing almost every place they go
and for many of the sellers, they are just the final blow

I swear to God another Garage sale I will not do -
that's three days of my life wasted and from my sister two.
I'd rather give the stuff away - indeed that's what I'm doing,
than chase a sale, get stuffed about - and hear peoples pooh hooing.

My storage nightmares will be gone- likewise a bit of clutter,
my cupboards will be empty - save for wine and peanut butter
and other useful things that one will use most every day ...
the wedding china's finally gone - for very little pay.

I have to rein myself in hard - no way I need that chair,
the curtains that I spotted cheap will not be needed where
I plan to move to - nor the fountain, pretty though it be.
Six hundred dollars for a bowl for my mate Khamah-D.

I really think not sunshine - there's a bucket does the job.
Cheap as chips at a dollar and my bank balance won't sob.
Moving house is exciting - Is it? Not sure I agree,
but move I will - time seventeen I think - from memory.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Ah yes, Maureen - the eternal dilemma - to save or not to save (the stuff).

Cheers
