Homework July 24 'The Girl From Timbuktu'

Post by Terry » Sun Jul 21, 2024 12:35 pm

My computer died and it's taken me until now to get things more or less, back on Track.
So, I haven't had time to study the great suggestions put up by Maureen.
so please forgive me for going of script with this one - Terry

The Girl from Timbuktu
I met her first at Murphy’s well a golden-haired young Desert Belle,
whose motorbike had died a mile or two back down the track.
And said she was a jillaroo and that she came from Timbuktu
and would I be a real nice bloke and kindly drive her back.

There was a reason then I knew about her choice of Timbuktu,
I’ve climbed the highest hills and viewed what seems a scene from hell.
A perfect fit as Satan’s run when reddened by the setting sun,
so harsh and unforgiving - yet so beautiful as well.

I gladly took her home that day a pleasant hour to while away,
this pretty girl would no doubt be the highlight of the week.
Though little did I realize then that given time we’d meet again,
a thousand miles away up north - a spot called cripple creek.

Though at that time still unaware of future ventures we would share,
to me this was a pleasant interlude from lonely days.
That for a moment brought a smile upon this weary old bloke’s dial
and seemed to lift my spirits with her smiling happy ways.

Good one Terry,
Sounds like not the best place to have a bike break down, that's for sure.
But a happy ending, that's the main thing! :D
Cheers,
Ron.

Bit of fun Ron, but a trye story none the less.
You don't often run into a pretty girl out there.
