The Perfect Woman

Post by David Campbell » Sun May 01, 2011 11:35 am

Bob kicked this off with 'The Perfect Man', so here's a suggestion for the other side of the equation:

The Perfect Woman

© David Campbell, May 1, 2011

A Botticelli angel
would be my perfect love…
she’d soar just like an eagle,
yet flutter like a dove.

With hair like Rita Hayworth,
and Angelina’s lips,
plus eyes like Lizzie Taylor,
she’d launch a thousand ships.

The drive of Maggie Thatcher,
the heart of Joan of Arc,
the humour of Dame Edna,
and Katie Hepburn’s spark.

The pout of Bridget Bardot,
the charm of Doris Day,
the voice of Judy Garland
to sing my cares away.

The legs of Elle Macpherson,
plus Audrey Hepburn’s style,
the curves of Halle Berry,
and Mona Lisa’s smile.

The mind of Emma Thompson,
with Keira Knightley’s face,
the sex appeal of Monroe
would make my old heart race.

But lads, you must be careful
when searching for a mate,
in case you stumble badly,
and meet an awful fate.

When you wake up next morning,
you’re horrified to see
she looks just like Dame Edna,
and sounds like Maggie T.

A great reply Dave. Never a truer word was spoken.

Very good David, when I read the first half I thought you never met my wife, so how could describe Elaine so well. (Not the last two verses)

Hi David,
Sounds a bit like the impossible dream and if she had all those attributes she may well turn out to be an impossible woman to live with as well.
I think Like Dave most of us would stick with our present loves, I know that I wouldn't swap my Valma June; no one else would probably put up with me anyway.

Cheers enjoyed your poem,

Terry

Thanks Bob, Heather, Dave and Terry...just a bit of fun prompted by a daydreaming mind and a wet Sunday morning. Now I'm wondering what would happen if Bob's perfect man married my perfect woman. Probably be hell on wheels!

Cheers
David

I wonder,

How many of you have heard Pat Drummond's song 'Maralyn Munro Was a Size 14?' We size 14's love it. Also worth a listen his tribute to Keith Richards 'I want to know why your not dead.'
