If I Could Visit Heaven

Post by mummsie » Wed May 04, 2011 12:55 pm

This is as personal as it gets, hope you don't mind me sharing.

If I Could Visit Heaven

If I could visit heaven,
If only for a day,
spend some time with Mum and Dad
I'v got so much to say.

Ask them''How have you been keeping,
are you well and free from pain?,
It's so lonely there without you,
wish we had you back again.

So many things have happened,
since you left so long ago,
what was that, why am I crying?,
It's because I miss you so.

Yes, the gardens looking good Dad,
and the Rose is at it's best,
every day holds fondest memories,
since you lay your head to rest.

All the familys doing well Mum,
and the children, how they grow,
how I've waited for this moment,
hold me close, don't let me go.

Are there angels here in heaven?,
yes, of course, I should have known,
thats the reason why God chose you,
your time with us, was just a loan.

What's the time, I have to leave now?,
No, please wait, I've more to say,
guess I'll see you in the morrow,
when the angels call my way.

G'day Sue,

Gee a 'two tissue box' job if I've ever read one. You have captured a very personal ideal of 'what may be in a dream'. Beautifully expressed. I'm sure everyone whose parents have passed on will appreciate this, even those who did not have the best earthbound relationship. I can't write much about my mother. I have written a tribute to my dad. It was on the old site. I suppose it will be ok to repost it.

Isn't it funny how our society speaks of death. I toyed with several phrases for the above but I could not write 'whose parents are dead'. In other cultures, there is no such sensibility.

Love the poem.

Thank you Zondrae, and I would love to read your 'Dad' poem. Some people have trouble expressing their feelings about death and the loss of loved ones. My Dad always taught me, never be ashamed of emotion or showing it. I guess that's what I'm doing here. As I said at the start, it doesn't get much more personal than this, but it's something most people can relate to.

It's beautiful Sue - no more really needs to be said. From the heart and something all will relate to I would like to think.

Cheers

Emotions are a funny thing, the littlest thing can set them off, yesterday I read Martys poem 'The Mare'[yes, it's your fault Marty] and this poem came from those feelings, I'm just a sucker for a tear jerker.

Thanks Heather and Bob, you're right Bob, it's very therapeutic to write your feelings on paper.Kinda gets it all out.

G'day Sue, still have both my parents at this stage, but that even got a dusty ol' bushie like me a bit misty eyed....
