Re: Help for croc & Glenny?
Dear Glenny, I can only imagine how difficult these last few months have been for you, and my heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow - you have been his rock and his light through this time.
I would have loved to have met up with Croc again for one last time, but it was not to be. However, he will always hold a special place in my heart for the invaluable help and advice he gave me, alongside your advice, when I was first starting out in the poetry field, and for the memories of his beautiful, thought-provoking - and sometimes very direct - words and opinions!!
I am so pleased that I had the opportunity to meet him when I was in Queensland, and am glad he is no longer suffering through the pain and frustration of his disease. May he rest peacefully now, though I am sure he will be watching over everyone on the weekend!!
Take care - and big hugs to you.
Irene

Re: Help for croc & Glenny?
Oh Manfred that is just wonderful! Thank you so much. So he did a 'fly over' for you too it seems?
To explain:
This time last year croc was as fit as a Mallee bull & was doing his SES duties at our little Anzac Day Parade. I didn't feel up to attending this year's parade, but my family did, on my behalf. My oldest daughter Tammy, who is a quite spiritual but very grounded girl, came home with the story of how she was somewhat awed & comforted by an eagle that was circling above my little family group. She was intrigued at how it seemed to particularly follow wherever my little group wandered.
The next day was croc's funeral. Prior to setting off to the cemetery, while I was saying my last farewell to my darling in the heavily treed back yard of our home, Tammy told me the eagle was again circling directly above us, just above those trees, just above croc & I.
During the following graveside service at our gorgeous little country cemetery, where croc now lies beside the Bottle tree, Tammy suddenly gasped and pointed to the sky. One & all then looked up... to see the eagle circling yet again directly above us, as John Williamson's ''True Blue'' was playing. He circled us languidly several times, & then glided off to rejoin his group, who seemed to be lingering on the periphery, and who then peacefully accompanied him away from the scene. It was the most beautiful funeral I had ever experienced...closing with Peter Allen's 'I Still Call Australia Home.'
We held croc's poetry event the following evening, in the old bush sheds nestled amongst the trees, here at home, & then at our straggler's poets' brekky on the Sunday morning...the eagle flew directly over us again....and then glided off to his group waiting nearby. They floated up to the higher sky...and away.
I'm looking forward to crafting a poem about this beautiful eagle....soon.
It seems to me Mannie that croc is indeed now ''flying free''...........thank you again for your remarkable picture. I will keep & treasure it always.

Re: Help for croc & Glenny?
The last of my visiting dear friends leave today. I shall then set about 'getting things in order' & make my way back to some sort of 'normality.'
I can't imagine how I would have coped without the outpouring of love & support from you all; my wonderful (if a tad nutty
) bush poet mates.
Vic & Helen, Val, Neil & Coleen, Bob, Robyn, Sue, IRene & David...thank you.
Marty, your lovely verse will go into the album & be treasured...we'll yarn about it sitting around your campfire.
Bill me old mate......'the best you can find' has always been the best that I needed. Your heartfelt verse will also go into the album & be treasured.
Bless you all.
Love
Glenny
