The Paper and the Tree

Post by Stephen Whiteside » Fri Jul 15, 2011 9:07 am

My daughter found our newspaper stuck up a tree yesterday morning, and it sparked a little idea...

The Paper and the Tree

I woke up this morning, and what did I see?
The new morning’s paper perched high in our tree.
“How clever,” I thought, “of our tree to do that.
It first must make paper, and lay it out flat.

“It then must discover the news of the day,
And type it all up in a readable way.
Most tricky of all, next, in darkness of night,
To wrap it in plastic, and roll it up tight.”

“How clever you are, then!” I spoke to the tree.
I patted its trunk while it stood silently,
But soon the truth struck me, and caused me to blanch.
Propelled by a boy, it had caught on a branch!

Stephen I like the way your mind works    I hug big trees just to feel the life force within them, however on the down side :(

So out to the shed for a ladder I went
to retrieve my paper from where it was sent.
The ladder gave way I landed on my head.
in future I’ll read the news online instead.

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

Reading the news online is flat.
The 'footpath search' is where it's at.
The challenge that is most fantastic?
Finding the edge of the roll of plastic!

Yeah, it's really the pits when you have to do that.

But there are few greater pleasures then getting the paper delivered at 4.30 am in the morning and sitting back in the arm chair with a hot cuppa and absolute silence and catching up on the news.

I can think of a few - sleeping in on a cold morning is one of them! The paper can wait!

But we do not have cold mornings Heather . Now before you bite back offically you were off the coast and probably outside Queensalnd boundaries so that's why it was raining and cold.
