Tom's Green Thumb

Post by Bob Pacey » Sat Jul 23, 2011 1:54 pm

Still playing around with this not really happy with the ending ?

But fun non the less.

Tom's Green Thumb

Old Tom had always grown tomatoes
the quality was hard to beat.
His crop was always luscious
full of flavour and so sweet.

His tomatoes were the brightest red
that you have ever seen.
They were the envy of his neighbour
a lady name of Jean.

People marvelled at Toms expertise
as he in their praise did bask.
but the secret of his growing skills
none were game to ask.

Jean was passing by one day
when Tom called for her to stop
and she saw her chance to quiz him
on the secret of his crop.

Jean wondered if he’d share his skill
Smiled sweetly and then said
Why was it his tomato’s
were always such a bright, bright red.

Well said Tom “I flash them
both in the morning and at night
then the tomatoes get embarrassed
that’s why their colour is so bright“.

Jean thought that Tom was joking
but was too polite to say
and even though she thought it stupid
tried out Toms trick next day.

When next they met Tom asked her straight
had she tried his growing tip
She was a little bit embarassed
to admit that she did strip.

But she said that she had tried it
yes she’d played his silly game
and there was no change in her tomatoes
they just seemed to stay the same.

“What no effect at all” said Tom
it always works for me
are you sure that nothing happened
His concern was plain to see.

“Well my tomatoes never changed at all”
said Jean with a look so cute
“It had no effect on them at all
But my cucumbers are just beaut“.

The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
