Mudrunks
Stephen Whiteside 12.10.2011
On the mud near gum and wattle,
Victim of apparent throttle,
Lay a wretched axolotl.
Spent the night upon the bottle.
By its side, I took a gander.
Let me speak with total candour.
Intoxicated salamander;
Taste for booze, it chose to pander.
Pathetic couple of amphibian,
Stretched out in complete oblibion!

Yeah, something like that. 'Axolotl' is one of those words I've always been determined to work into a poem. At least I can cross it off the list now!

Oh oh oh,
I've got an axolotl poem tucked away somewhere. I'm pretty sure I didn't get axolotl to rhyme though, well done Stephen.
I think I've got a poem about just about everything tucked away somewhere *sigh*. No wonder I can't come up with any new ideas.

G'day Stephen,
Axolotl poem you have written although it could have been alotl longer. I had the notion I might try an absolutely silly this morning but I resisted. Maybe I should give in and have a go. (I have to undergo another angioplasty soon) Hope I get another good poem from my next hospital visit.

Zondrae, I'm sorry to hear of your health concerns. I hope all goes well.
Heather - yes, definitely, though it's not a dream I've cherished for quite as long.

Well clever you Stephen, you've managed to knock two off in one poem. Such a clever little poet you are....

Only a small poem, too. And it didn't take very long to write, either.

Very entertaining Stephen. Good use of the music of words, a feature of poetry that too often gets neglected in bush poetry writing.
I think the ghost of Ogden Nash was looking over your shoulder
he did a lot of short quirky animal verses.
