Fred Wills.

I was fortunate, a little while back, to discover a booklet titled - Poems of Australia, written and published by
Fred Wills. I cannot date it as a date does not appear anywhere within or on the covers.

There are thirty one mighty good writings contained within sixty eight pages.
One of the supporting pages is the reproduction of a letter from,
Don Stanmore of Stanmore Hardware Store, Auburn. It tells this story -

I am writing to say that I have read your book of Poems and that I thoroughly enjoyed the contents.
The sentiments expressed therein and the message throughout which you have managed to include,
that of pride in the success against struggle, clearly shows your compassion, tolerance and love of your fellow men, irrespective of colour, race or creed.
In my very amateurish way I have composed a little verse, which I thought might be appropriate :

It's a pity more of us don't have the time
to put our thoughts to verse and rhyme.
The feelings and sentiments in your book
should make us all stop and look
at ourselves, and those around us
and do only good, without any fuss.
to all mankind, whether gifted or just a dunce
never forget, we pass this way but once.

Don Stanmore.
Board of Hospital Management.

I would be pleased to share these with you.
However, I am a one finger maestro and most are long.
An alternative might be - scan, copy, save as pdf - if I did this how could I reproduce them in a suitable forum ?

G'day Jim

A quick search on Google says that "Poems of Australia" by Fred Wills was published somewhere between 1983 and 1994. It sounds like there may have been more than one edition made (A Bicentennial Issue in 1988 was one example that I found info on). As the poetry would still be within copyright, it would not be advisable for you to publish the poems on this site unless you have the permission of Fred Wills or the owner of his copyright (if he is deceased or has sold the copyright, whatever the case might be).

Regards

John Peel

Postscript edit:

Fred Wills was born in 1908 and died in 1996. To publish his poems on this site you would need the permission of his copyright holder. Unfortunately, that is what the law is here in Australia.

"Thank you" John for your advices.

So be it.

I'm sure you agree, copyright limitations are just and necessary.
