Is it true that a poem posted to this forum is then judged as having been published and no longer eligible for entry into competitions?

Re: Competitions
G'day Wazza,
Yes and no. Different competitions state different conditions. Some say (and this is the fairest) that a poem that has been published may still be eligible for their competition unless there has been a monetary payment/benefit from the publication, so that would mean you could still enter poems published on the forum. Other competitions do not allow poems that have been published in any form whatsoever, whether or not payment has been involved, and some even state that this includes published on the web or self-published.
It is a matter of ploughing through the individual conditions for each competition and hoping that you don't inadvertently breach the rules.
Hope this helps.

I play it safe Wazza. If they say "published" I assume they also mean internet.

Thanks Heather ... that's a shame. Mean spirited I'm thinking.
