The Things that Matter
THE THINGS THAT MATTER.
Stop the presses; hold front page !
a crisis breaks into our age.
The moon goes dark, the sun won't shine
it is the hour of judgement time.
Apocalypse stalks at the gate,
salvation's time is very late,
if we don't try to keep our heads
we'll all be murdered in our beds.
So man the trenches, hold the line,
if we stay brave we should be fine,
but danger's worse than you might think,
for Abbott has been seen to wink.

I believe that was more of a squint Maureen. If I was doing an on air interview and a pensioner told me that she manned the sex chat lines to earn a quid I reckon I might have developed a tic as well.

Thanks for the replies everyone
The late Neil Postman wrote a great little book called Amusing Ourselves To Death in which he deals with the way newspapers feed the public appetite for the sensational by creating ''news" out of pure wind.
