HOMEWORK PROMPTS FOR WEEK ENDING 22ND SEPTEMBER

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Mon Sep 08, 2014 9:55 am

A great response and some good fun from last set of prompts - I am still battling my garage sale demons. Sent my son away with some 'cast offs' yesterday which he can actually use and as I explained to him he might as well have them now as when I am no longer here. Spring cleaning really does unearth some hidden treasures though.

Anyway here is something for you to toy with - the challenge is to write a Parody written on one of our Aussie classic poems - your choice of poet

Here is the first verse of Mulga Bill's Bicycle to give you a heads up on something that you could use

'Twas Mulga Bill, from Eaglehawk, that caught the cycling craze;
He turned away the good old horse that served him many days;
He dressed himself in cycling clothes, resplendent to be seen;
He hurried off to town and bought a shining new machine;
And as he wheeled it through the door, with air of lordly pride,
The grinning shop assistant said, "Excuse me, can you ride?"

Go to it and let's see what you come up with

Cheers

Maureen

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
