Ho hoho work for w/e 28.11.16 - SLEIGH IT AGAIN

SLEIGH IT AGAIN ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBark Poet

Old Santa had been practicing out on the Northern run
with the reindeer...had to get them fit before Christmas begun
to impact in a big way. The world population's growing
and each year the load is bigger - hard to pull when it is snowing.

They didn't have their steps in sync - he was shaken not stirred
because Rudolph chose to gallop but the other deer demurred,
claiming cantering was better, with less energy expended
Santa kept out of the argument - least said was soonest mended.

They oft had these divisions - if not reindeer then with elf,
and at times they threatened Union - he threatened back with 'Shelf',
and no self respecting elf really wants to be delegated
to watching over children 's behaviour that's overrated.

The big day's drawing closer, in New Zealand the earth moved,
the rise and fall of country there quite recently has proved
a challenge to map makers in the Santa factory
for the landmarks in that country are now altered sadly.

The Golden Staircase to the moon, in Broome has been and gone.
Santa had hoped to see that natural phenomenon
but seems to do so he must plan another holiday -
they say September's the best time, if he could get away.

But let's put distractions aside - get to the task in hand
of wrangling whinging reindeer , a stroppy scraggly band
of miscreants, grown fat on feed and feral over summer.
Sometimes Santa would willingly trade the sleigh for a Hummer.

Well, that's what he told Mrs Claus in last year's Jeep advert when she asked him how he'd got around the world so quickly. It was on Channel 7, so it MUST be true!!!
