HC's for our mates

Post by Dave Smith » Tue Feb 08, 2011 6:34 pm

G/Day All just received my Feb-Mar magazine, Congratulations to all the winners at Tamworth but a special congrats to our mates on their HC’s Terry Piggott And Will Moody in The Blackened Billy. Our Kym HC in the Gippsland Golden Wattle. A nice picture of Neville on the back page with his class, mostly girls I see but that’s good they will be the Mums who read the classics to their kids by their knee side and so the poets will live on.
All good stuff hey.

G'day Dave. I have not long ago got the magazine, and there are a few of our friends who are prominent as you say, good work. Sorry about the favouritism folks but I think Will Moody as a bush poet is way out in front these days.

That was a great experience with the children. Interestingly, the regional arts co-ordinator in her monthly newsletter mentioned the resurgance of interest in poetry. She dropped a not so subtle hint that I ( or maybe someone else ..hint..hint) should be running this sort of event again, soon.

When I looked through my magazine I was shocked to find out that Peter Crawford had died. I hadn't known that.
I only met Peter Crawford once; at Tamworth last year. We had a good talk because he and I shared some experiences in aboriginal communities. Peter struck me as a person who would have been characterised as " one of nature's gentlemen " . Very sad.
