Thanks Leonie and Dave,
The best thing about having a different name is that I am never confused with anyone else. This works two ways though. When I used to be in trouble at school, there was no doubt about who it was. I loved my name so much that I called my first born child by the same name. Confusing for a while. Now she is married there is no confusion. She does not love it as much as I always have.
As you have said Leonie, it is a bit like being 'Elvis'. Not many people would say "Elvis Who?". With my many 'incarnations' as I refer to them, I am well known. Just google Zondrae and see what pops up. One day I might write some poems about some of those 'other lives'.
Dave, I am brushing up 'Mrs Mickey' for the Country Music Festival at Dapto in July. I'll let you know how it goes over. The poetry director has asked for funny material. I'll probably finish with 'Strike Me Pink'. I have to do at least 2 x 15 minte spots. I have been timing my poems and am surprised how short they all are. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and learn 'Joe (A Modern Swaggie)' it is my longest ballad yet, at just under 700 words. I'll aim to have it memorised for Majors Creek. That's November. I had better start now.
Funny thing, I had memorised three new poems for the National FF and didn't even do one of them. I'll get to try them out at the Snowy Mountains of Music over the June Long Weekend. Again reason to practice, practice, practice.

I forgot to tell you that my father was William James Daniel and was known as 'Splinter' when he was a skinny little kid.
Later he was known as Willie or just plain old Bill
I've already mentioned in my post "MUM" where my mother Daphne May Daniel was known as Goll or Todd or Toddy.

Re: JOE or FRANK
morning all,
Going back a generation: Mum had red hair so was called 'Red' but never 'Blue'. Also with the name Della Bona she was also called 'Della' but mostly 'Red'. She hated her name Elsie and so would tell people to call her 'Red'. Even her grandchildren caller her 'Nonna Red'. Dad's "name was Giovanni but the Aussies called him Jack".
Generally, we don't do nicknames in my mob. We all have carefully chosen and perfectly thought out names which we use.
We do have pet names we use between ourselves, but don't use outside the house. Strange when I think of this, it mostly applies to our middle child. Even her nephew calls her 'Aunty Me'. This started when he was a baby and she would say to him... 'You be a good boy or Aunty "me" will smack your little bottom'... and then the rest of the family started calling her Aunty Me.

Once you become grandparents in our tribe we become known as Ma and Pa.
To differentiate between one line or the other we add the surname to the title.
So on my side of the family we always had Ma and Pa Daniel or Ma and Pa Gallagher.
In my case, I am just plain old Pa as there is no opposition alive to compete with.
