Re access to the site

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Sat May 21, 2011 7:42 am

I know this was bought up before by Vic I think but out of curiosity I tried to access the Poetry portion of the site without signing in and couldn't get to it. Heather said from memory that you could access it.

I was able to see Collaborations and Yarns and Audios and some info on joining and things related to it - but couldn't get into Poetry. So basically The Foyer and the Shed Collaborations and the Public Noticeboard...but no poetry by either members or non members.

Am I missing something or is that how it is?

Cheers

Maureen

Maureen what you have is what there is. On the old forum you were able to read users poems but not able to post unless you became registered and could not post in the members section until you became a member. Or some such thing like that.

TTFN 8-)

And then, what is the definition of "member"? Paid up member of ABPA or registered to use the site? :?

Agreed. Darren is a "user" (only took me 30 years to discover that! ) and he has registered to use the site and can post in members section or users. He is not a member of ABPA.

Shhh, don't tell him I said that ;)

Yep, that's the way it appears to me too. If you were a newbie just trolling the net looking for bush poetry you could be forgiven for thinking that what you see is all you get - a bush poetry site with no written poetry.

It's not all that unusual for sites to have areas you can't access without registering and logging in but you can usually at least see that they are there. That's an incentive to register to see more, but here at first sighting you wouldn't even know that there are any more, unless I'm missing something too.

Exactly the point I was trying to make Leonie - I have handed out the link to hundreds of people and have it on all my emails and have only just realized that in reality it is a wasted space because people can't access any of the Bush Poetry at all.....Mannie think this could be worth looking at.......it would be akin to going to buy a dress on line , accessing the shop and then being told well yes we have got them but you ain't going to see them....I would go elsewhere.

I agree Maureen. On the old site I'm pretty sure you could look at the poetry and posts (maybe not the members, not sure) but you couldn't post if you hadn't registered.

Everyone likes to window shop. Not everyone will register just to have a look - personally I wouldn't do it on any other site, it would put me off straight away.

Heather :)

Well if it turns you girls off we have to change it. Darrens is a user hey.

He looks like such a normal bloke as well.

Bob

Ps It took me about three weeks to relaise that I had to register so it is either the system or I'm just thick.

Yeah i know.
