Hey now go easy young Heather, Bundy Rum is as much a part of Queensland as Cane Toads, XXXX, and Wally Lewis, little Alfie Langer (Ipswich boy) and Darren Lockyer, and Artie Beetson( used to own a pub in Redcliffe where I grew up)....so all these things are inbred in our psyche...kinda like football, meat pies and Holden cars. We hold them dear.

I would watch football on a rare occasion.. back in the days of Langer, Sterlo, Fatty and the like. Now the players all appear to be Samoan or Maori. Where are the good Aussie boys. Or do I only notice the handsome ones. Aren't any sport stars called Fred Smith or Bob Jones or Bill Brown any more? ... and come to think of it, the soccer players are worse. Very few pronouncable names in the team. I know the selectors have to choose the best players - so does this mean some sections of society are not talented or are they too lazy to try to excell. (lets see who bites on this one)

Heather my footy days are long over. When I went into management my old boss came up one day as I limped into work and said. " You are not still playing that stupid contact sport are you" Now I'm not the smartest fella but even I can take a hint. Took up touch football which I played for 30 years.

I was based out in Moura and did relief at Theodore and made some great friends out there who I still see today. When out to do a show at the Baralaba Show recently and seen the local kids playing on Saturday morning so went over for a look. Most Of the Parents I knew from my playing days and they were there either watching or coaching their kids. Rugby league is a great family sport and you can make some great mates. Oh when I retired to touch I took up coaching ladies sides what a hoot.

ps can still remember having BBQs at Moura and having 20 parents and around thirty kids turn up on a Saturday night. Good Times.

My son went back out to Moura as a deisel fitter played for the Tigers as well.
