I'm sure the editor Ita Buttrose knew how to spell obnoxious .

Hey, Neville, which edition of the Oxford English Dictionary is that that you are reading? It doesn't look familiar.

Stephen ..that's the Concise Oxford English Dictionary. 11th Edition, Revised 2008.
edited not by Ita Buttrose but by Catherine Soanes and Angus Stevenson.
What happened to the educational Laggan Symposium, Marty ?? underneath all that blizzard ?

Re: A round tuit
I looked at the Macquarie. It seems useful enough for bush poets, I chose the Oxford because it has a much larger number of entries and includes etymological notes on each word.
( that means , where words come from originally, Sue
)
I also have a large thesaurus which is the Penguin Thesaurus, I found this to be extensive and useful.
I haven't been able to purchase an expanded brain or poetic ability yet, still looking.

Re: A round tuit
A thesaurus doesn't set out any information on punctuation Sue.
You can get little cheap one's at supermarkets. The thesaurus groups words together that have the same or similar meanings. Excellent tool for bush poets and probably more useful sometimes than a rhyming dictionary for rhyming words.
Between you and me , I think punctuation is a terribly dry subject but if you really want to go into it, Eats, Shoots and Leaves by Lynn Truss is one of the most widely acclaimed on the subject. There is also an Australian book published by UNSW Press..The Little Green Grammar Book.by Mark Tredinnick.
