The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen , Norway .. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers all point to a radical change in climate conditions and hitherto unheard-of temperatures in the Arctic zone. Exploration expeditions report that scarcely any ice has been met as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes. Soundings to a depth of 3,100 meters showed the gulf stream still very warm. Great masses of ice have been replaced by moraines of earth and stones, the report continued, while at many points well known glaciers have entirely disappeared.

Very few seals and no white fish are found in the eastern Arctic, while vast shoals of herring and smelts which have never before ventured so far north, are being encountered in the old seal fishing grounds. Within a few years it is predicted that due to the ice melt the sea will rise and make most coastal cities uninhabitable.

Agree with Marty - walking the middle ground is the better way to go...all the doom and gloom merchants over the years have never yet been proved to be categorically right, although an element of truth is always there - we are tending to throw the baby out with the bathwater. Moderation in all things is the key IMO.

Are you feeling better today Bob - has your life threatening man flu perhaps turned out to be just a cold???

Oh it was as noted The Dreaded Man Flu but with a mixture of home medicine and simple resolve plus a warm dog to cuddle when I felt really down I have managed to beat it to a pulp and resurfaced full of beans.

Very interesting Bob, I remember in the 70's when we were wheat farmers, we were told that we would probably have to shift further north soon to grow wheat because the ice age was coming and we wouldn't be able to farm there anymore! If it only took thirty odd years for that lot to turn around we should be able to stand a few degrees temprature rise for a few years....

Hey Bob, by the way....just thought I would let you know our daughter inlaw turned up around here with another lap dog pup, a brother to the one we already have from the next litter....now we have 4 dogs, all legal and above board!......
