It takes a lot of practice, lots of mistakes ,( I've made plenty

I don't nag like this to be spiteful but because I believe that what I am saying is an encouragement to better practice of what Manfred calls ' our craft ".
I am not sure what you mean by bush poetry ceasing to be fun. Do the football players stay away from training days, ignore the coaches directions, take no notice of the position of other team players, drink copious amounts of booze just before a game , because they don't want to stifle the fun of being a footy player ?
Do our Olympic athletes think that the grind of discipline is all worth the effort when they have the pleasure of receiving the gold medal ?
I'm not talking about poetry contests, I mean our gold medal is a work of poetry worthy of the name. It is enormous pleasure, if you can do it ?? I'm still hoping and trying
