Post by Neville Briggs » Sat Oct 22, 2011 3:27 pm

There's no-one on the site to-day...for hours.

I'm here alone. :(

I can do what I like. I CAN SHOUT

I can run about naked ( what a sight :o  )

I can even, put on free verse, FREE VERSE, FREE VERSE.
AND THERE'S NO-ONE HERE TO STOP ME

Where have all the bush poets gone
long time passing
where have all the bush poets gone
a long long time ago.
Where have all the bush poets gone,
gone to free verse every one.
When will they ever learn
when will they ever learn.

  :o

I'm back - Kym's on her way back to Rocky clutching her replica Babies of Walloon statue/award in her hot little hand- the Bilbys are having an afternoon nap - as are Mahalia and Ellyssa and I'm talking to you mob - what more do you need Neville???

Photo taken at the park Walloon Bicentennial Park with Kym standing on the lillypond with Bridget and Kate holding her award in her hand. We met some lovely QR workers who took a couple of snaps for us and were very interested in the Bush Poetry story and we sent them off with links to ABPA to peruse at their leisure - like most people in Ipswich, friendly and helpful and happy to chat. Said G'day to a bloke riding his horse through the park - nice bit of eye candy there - we had a good time, stopped for piccies at the Walloon Saloon. Ysterday met up with Leonie and took Kym to see the Quolls and the Bilbys at our own little zoo in Queens Park. We organized a fly by for her but sadly if failed to impress

Sixteen Super Hornets left RAAF Base Amberley about 10am before zooming off across south-east Queensland. After joining with the four new Super Hornets off the coast of the Sunshine Coast, the 20 jets flew in formation over Ipswich and back to base about 11.30am.

She merely commented about a lot of noise

The awesome sight and sound of such a large formation is one Defence officials say is unlikely to ever be repeated. The aerial action was not over with that flypass, one jet took to the sky for a stunning solo display. One of the Super Hornets was flown by Chief of Air Force Air Marshal Geoff Brown.

We did try to get the Queen to visit her for Kyms special day - with our lovely mayor sending HRH a personal invitation but sadly that could not be arranged - she probably couldn't stand the competition with our Kym. Whilst I believe Aunty Liz ( I can call her that - we are related by blood) does indeed enjoy poetry - I don't think she gets much opportunity to hear Bush Poetry and Granddads purple donkey would probably be considered small fry when compared to the hundreds of gleaming, strutting, equine steeds her own stables contain. However our own William George "Bill" Hayden AC who was the 21st Governor-General of Australia was there to shake her hand.

So all in all she didn't do too badly.

Oh, that's why I look all scrunch-faced - we were trying to figure out why your camera wouldn't go! Yup, I'm home, but I'm very tired. Thanks for a great couple days, you were the perfect host and very willing to be my personal taxi-driver. Thanks!!!!

I'll put some photos up later ...
