Congratulations Kym and Heather,

and well done to all the other winners and runners up. I haven't seen the proper list yet but I'll be looking forward to reading all the top ten poems.

I feel a bit out of place, being included with the high flyers as my effort was only a HC. I didn't decide to send in an entry until the last minute. I'm glad I did.

Well done to all those who sweated and toiled over their poems. All the poets who sent in their works for scrutiny by "the judges", who may not have reached the top of this competition, should take heart. Your poem may not appeal to the judge of the day, however, if you hone your craft and polish your work to the best of your ability, you can achieve higher things. Keep at it. Every story should be told. It is always possible that a poem, overlooked by one judge, may, at a later stage, do better in another competition.

Congratulations to you too Zondrae on your HC. It was good to hear your name called out!

The good thing about this comp was the feedback on the written poems. I entered a poem which I have had high hopes for and it has continually missed out. One comp said it was a lovely story with a few technical errors - nice but useless comment. The judges at Morisset have pointed out the errors in detail. I had even put 6 beats in one line instead of the usual 7 - and totally missed it (grrrrrrr). But now I know and I can go back and improve it.

Ditto congrats to everybody. A great weekend at Morisset and we all learned a lot. To be in the company of a bunch of first rate poets, what more could you want? A big thanks to Trevor and Carol and all the gang at Hunter Bush poets (and to the cooks) for making it all possible. For a few bucks two bottles of soda water and a tube of super glue I had a ball. Almost made that bloody one minute cut off!

Regards to all

Mal
