BUSH POET'S RADIO ...

Post by manfredvijars » Thu Nov 24, 2011 9:01 am

Currently looking at the viability of building (and maintaining) and Internet Radio Station to initially go to air one night per week (it's not really as daunting as it sounds). Was thinking, maybe 2-3 hours on a Tuesday or Wednesday night of ABPA news, poetry and interviews with a bit of music thrown in.

Would be very interested in any thoughts you may have on this topic ...

Cheers,

Manfred.

Great idea Manfred,
being on the internet we could all access it, whereas on normal radio it's usually only accessible to a very limited audience.

What a corker of an idea.

Now how do we go about attracting listeners?

The purpose in life is to have fun.
After you grasp that everything else seems insignificant !!!

... Actually Heather, I'm one of the laziest bastards around. Being in radio at the moment, the programming side is no big deal. Setting the whole thing up doesn't look too complicated either. We have plenty of capacity on our ABPA server.

The show would have to be 'streamed' rather than 'pod-cast' (makes it a bit more difficult to 'suck' intellectual works). One night per week - midweek preferably, 2 to 3 hours and the show can be pre-recorded. Anyone with computer access to the ABPA web-site can upload content.

Not too worried about attracting listeners at the moment Zondrae - it might be a crap show!! ...
Besides I think we have enough on this Forum to practice on? ... :D

I have a weekly radio show where I present one song, one poem ... ALL 100% Australian content.
I think Greg's show is Comedy and no or minimal music.

Anyway, one night per week for a couple of hours isn't too much of an ask ... besides, (and here's the lazy bit) I'm sure some of our membership would like to "have a go". I AM HAPPY TO TRAIN ... :D

How do you think the programme should be presented??

Live   keep it lively with a good smattering of humour and a wide selection of work and interviews for added interest and to put a human face on it - but cut out any aaaahs, errs, you knows etc etc before it goes to air. ;)
