The Pressure Is On

Post by Heather » Thu Dec 01, 2011 7:33 pm

I'm going to the ARVOs meeting on Sunday and Jim Brown informs me that I should be prepared to recite a poem! The pressure is on - only two days to learn a poem and I can't even remember it's name! HELP!! :?

I only found out tonight that I had to recite Bob. I thought I was going along for afternoon tea! :(

I'm scared......

ARVO Australian Rhyming Verse Orators ...

They meet in Melbourne once a month. Jim Brown is in the group and the president was his dog but it died recently. The dog you saw in the pictures at Crookwell is the new president elect... I have to go along and pay my respects to the new president...as you do.

It's only Thursday . . . you've got all night tonight, then tomorrow and Saturday - surely you can get something memorised by then :?:

It's only a short poem Marty so I'll give it my best shot.

To think I used to be able to recite the whole of My Country -back in the days when I could remember stuff!

Good luck Heather,
Just say it over and over, starting at various stating points, until it sticks, then say it some more!
All the best,

Heathers Fate.

In the laundry or the loo
what's poor Heather gonna do.
Gotta learn this poem real fast
or this outing might be her last.

Mumble here and mumble there
other people stop and stare.
Now you know we've all been there
getting down to pulling hair.

The words just keep on going round
her brain is frazzled from the sound.
We know right now, you cringe in fright.
But on the night it will all come right.

Take along a packet of nice doggie treats...befriend the President, win him over, cut to the chase - he will always think you are the best and will be eating out of your hand.

Better yet wear your belly dancing clobber - no one will care about the reciting - you'll be there with bells on :?

Just stay calm Heather, these people have all been in the same place. Feel confident in the words you have written, it's a beautiful poem and deserves to be heard and who better to deliver it, than yourself. Good Luck, I will be thinking of you. :) :)

Cheers
