Road Kill

Road Kill

This morning, I went for a walk,
A stroll in winter’s morning chill.
I’d had a breakfast of fried pork,
For lunch I hoped to find road kill.

There were some toads squashed here and there,
A snake had clearly met his end,
But nothing I considered fare,
Until I walked around a bend.

There lying in a crumpled heap,
(He’d surely parted from his flock)
There lay a bruised and bloodied sheep;
He’d suffered from a fatal knock.

It was a shame he’d come to harm,
A tragedy he’d had to die.
My wooly friend had bought the farm,
For lunch I’m having shepherd’s pie.

Be careful the uniform blokes aren't around if collecting roo road kill - they'll slap a fine on you unless you are a licenced roo shooter with tags etc. But of course if you picked it up and were taking it to the vet and Oh dear it must have died - that's a different story     Snaffling woollies they might have to call in the stock squad. ;)

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.

I have to get my protein somewhere Maureen. ;)
The funny thing was the morning after posting this I came
across a hare breathing its last after having an argument with a car
Thing is I'd already had breakfast. :)
