Fightin' Writin'
Whether you write of the bush or the city
No need for your verse to be proper and pretty;
Ya know it’s a fact in this game there’s no money
So be disrespectful and bawdy and funny.
See that is the beauty of writin’ in verse,
For money will stifle, yeah money’s a curse;
Ya see on your writin’ sweet bugger all’s ridin’
So say what ya like - give the righteous a hidin’.

Re: Fightin' Writin'
Guy Clark wrote a song called 'Cold Dog Soup'.
The chorus begins like this:
"Ain't no money in poetry,
That's what keeps the poets free...
But I've had all the freedom I can stand."
Love it.
