Letter From Andy ...

Post by manfredvijars » Mon Jan 10, 2011 7:25 pm

This is a re-post of an email sent by Andy ...

G'Day Manfred,

Thank you for asking how we are going.

We are above the high tide mark and are OK, but many of our friends and neighbours are not. We have been busy moving their belongings to safe ground and are now waiting for the water to go down. When the waters have gone the real work will begin, cleaning up and restoring peoples house back to a liveable state. Insurance companies have already contacted us so the work will begin as soon as the assessors start processing the claims. I may have to postpone my final semester of Uni until the second half of the year. Hopefully the work will have slowed down by then.

Regards,
Andy

Evening Manfred,
Please relay my sincere best wishes to Andy. I hope he finds the end result well worth the long and hard road he is yet to travel. A new beginning always has promise even if it looks a way off.

Tough days ahead for all those affected. My heart goes out to them. Good to hear Andy is above the water line.

Heather :)

Stay safe Andy - and keep a sharp eye out for big worms and lizards.

Cheers

Hi Manfred
Please let Andy know we are thinking of him, and his friends and neighbours.
Maureen & Leonie, how are things in Ipswich? From what I have just read on the news, they are concerned about some further flooding out there.

Sounds like things are pretty bad out at Toowoomba - just spoke to a friend who's daughter lives out there, and thankfully they are still just waiting at the airport in Perth to fly back over there - if they can get home, that is.
My thoughts go out to everyone who is in the midst of the tragedies unfolding.

Manfred....Regards to Andy, I had a good yarn to Andy up at Tamworth last year, he seems a bloke of determination and perseverence , hope he goes well.

The situation in Toowoomba is appalling. Some of the supermarket chains have a system for collecting donations at the checkouts to go to the flood relief, that's about all we can do down our way. Perhaps pray that there is not more rain on the way soon.

To all our poets in flood affected areas, particularly in Queensland: you are in our thoughts.
As of now, Ipswich is next in the firing line. Maureen and Leonie, we hope that you both are in areas that will be spared the worst and that you and yours stay safe.

To all who have been, or are about to be impacted by these extraordinary events...

Our every urgent prayer and our every heartfelt hope
is that you find the inner strength of will to help you cope.
May Providence deliver you and keep you safe, we pray.
Our thoughts and our best wishes are with you and yours today.

Will.

Well said Will may I add my hopes and best wishes to all who may be affected, Maureen and Leonie looks like you need to hitch up your skirts again. Heather you may need your gumboots again, I do hope not. I now think our dry summer is not such a bad thing after all.

We're fine here thanks Dave. I'm thinking of all those in flood ravaged QLD and those in WA battling bushfires. Only in Australia could we have such extremes. Stay safe everyone.
