I was on a flight from Cairns to Melbourne yesterday and wearing a t-shirt that I had bought at the Man From Snowy River Festival in Corrying this year. The steward noticed the logo and started chatting to me about horses initially, then finding that I knew nothing about them!!

reverted to poetry and invited me "up the back" to tell him about bush poetry and show him a couple of poems I had in my hand bag. Seems he has fond memories of reading or listening to some Paterson poetry.
Anyhow, I think there's a moral to the story somewhere - wear your t-shirts I think! (or travel by air more often, don't forget to have a pen handy!)

If I was a steward on a plane and you got on wearing a tee shirt I reckon I would take notice as well.
Could you also please explain where up the back was ????
Bob.
Seriously Heather it does work I went into a plumbing supplier today and the bloke behind the counter said hey you are Bob that Poet bloke " Love you stuff " Oh but he did not invite me up the back. ???

Up the back of the plane Bob - actually standing right outside the toilets whilst listening to the said steward reading a couple of my poems. It was about then we hit turbulence and we (crew included) had to buckle up. I gave the steward (his name was Matt) the web site. Let's all wait and see if he shows up!!

I hasten to point out that the said steward was not inside the toilet reading the poems!

Nice to know Muzza was doing his bit and throwing in Turbulence

Reckon it should be a standard piece of poetry reserved for occasions such as this and read out to the passengers as the big bird starts buck - would take their mind off things
The plane she dropped a thousand feet, bounced up five hundred more
When his head hit the roof, his backside hit the floor!
"I've rode all through the Territory and never come unstuck
So give me all you've got big bird - buck you bastard buck!"

Good on you Heather,
and congrats for your win. We all take some credit for your success. Our poems (and ranting) must have rubbed off on you. It takes determination and practice to become a natural overnight success. Well done. Only trouble is now we will expect you to be up there in future competitions.
Oh and another thought !
Perhaps we might think of having an ABPA Tee shirt printed. I for one would wear it with pride.
