Now,

which of the important events are we concerned with. The AGM of the ABPA or, the Bush Laureate awards, I have read them somewhere already. Oh there was something else.... uumm Oh! the golden Ukuleles? Wot? What do you mean they're not Ukuleles! - Golden Guitars? are you sure?

All I would like to know is - Who won the Golden Damper?

G'day All

Winner of the Original Section Golden Damper was Graeme Johnson (The Rhymer from Ryde)
Runner-up was Jim Riches from Albany in WA
3rd was John Best from Brisbane
I was a finalist in this section again this year and it was a very strong field. It would have been very tough for the judges to pick.

Winner of the Traditional and Established section golden damper was Noel Bull from Musk in Victoria
Runner-up was Brenda Joy from Charters Towers
3rd was Peter Mace from Empire Bay

Blackened Billy winner was Catherine Clarke from the Maldives. Catherine took out two other prizes as well.
Runner-up was Ellis Campbell from Dubbo
Will Moody and Terry Piggot took out a highly commended each
Bob Magor was also one of the winners.

Hopefully someone will be able to fill in a few of the gaps.

Regards

Great John.
But who won the golden Ukulele?

(I'll stop this nonsense now.)

John,

I didn't do the banning in the members section. Don't know how to do that. Now you and Manfred and Greg are all home someone else can worry about it. How did the elections go? I suppose the Secretary will fil us in.

Heard on the news this morning that they handed out the Golden Guitar Award to Lee Kernaghan instead of the correct winner, Graeme Connors. They played a Graeme Connors song and had engraved his name on the award correctly but the wrong envelope was opened.

"Jan 24, 2011 - In an incident that reminds us a little (OK, a lot) of the whole Australia’s Next Top Model fiasco — when Sarah Murdoch mistakenly announced the wrong winner on a live telecast — the Tamworth Country Music Festival ended with a similar hitch on the weekend when Lee Kernaghan was wrongly awarded the Golden Guitar, the event’s highest honour. The rightful winner was Graeme Connors, whose name was actually printed on the trophy, but the wrong envelope had been handed to host Ray Hadley, who read the winner for Top Selling Album of the Year instead of Album of the Year. Country Music Association of Australia general manager Cheryl Hayes said human error, confusion and a late night were to blame, saying, “We clearly don’t believe that this is good enough for country music; we don’t believe it’s good enough for the artists"

Could be a good idea to get the poetry results in writing! Ha Ha.

You're all a bunch of lazy buggers ... the Tamworth results were posted on the ABPA Website around 6am this morning ...
There's more to this website than the Forum that bears looking at occasionaly ...

G'day Neville

I performed "When Elvis Came Back from the Dead" in the competition this year. I found out that I did it in bang on six minutes in the heat (including part of a song in the preamble). I think I might have exceeded the time limit in the final though (but not by much). I also was privileged to perform it yesterday morning at the poets' breakfast at the Longyard. It is a good, fun poem to perform.

G'day Zondrae

Pretty much the same team on the committee of the ABPA for this year as with last (I don't think there were any changes).

Regards
