As of last night, Milton was still in the Nepean? Hospital in Penrith.

Milt's been on a course steroids till he stabilises. Apparently there is a circulation problem so the surgeons will be going in again to insert a couple more 'stents'.

Will keep you posted.

M.

Got this email from Roelie this afternoon ....

Hello again,

It is with great pleasure and much happiness that I inform you of Milton's improvements over the last few days.

He has been officially diagnosed as also having 'chronic muscle inflammation' which includes inflammation of the heart. He was given his first dose of steroids last Tuesday night and by Wednesday morning he was a new man. He's in good spirits and his appetite has returned as has his strength and alertness.

His biopsy was first off the rank this morning and well before any discomfort of no food or liquid could be taken in. (He was starved from midnight the night before.) Results of the biopsy will be sometime next week which will justify the steroid treatment and assist the doctors in planning the long term treatment for his condition.

It was amazing to see the difference in the man in such a short time. He is back to his old cynical, cheeky self and was seen to be reciting a poem to the lovely female doctor who came to visit him on Wednesday. He has also penned a ditty to another female doctor who will be looking after him over the next days of his stay in hospital. He is up and about much more, talking and discussing all sorts of things and generally back to his 'good ole self'. He is feeling encouraged by the confidence of the doctors and by the way he is feeling now.

He is not sure how much longer he has to stay in hospital but he could be out mid to late next week. They may do another chest x-ray just to see how the infection in his lung is going. He is looking forward to an uninterrupted weekend of reading, chatting and resting.

All in all there is much joy and relief with the change over the past few days. Many thanks again for all your messages of love, best wishes and concern.

He sends his love to you all.

Many thanks from me too,
Roelie

I was talking to Milton yesterday and it was great to hear he's on the mend.

Milton and John Best along with Balladeer John Battle will be joing Chris and I in our Bush Poetry Ballads and Yarns shows at Roma''s Easter in the Country in 2011.
