harrington 'poets by the sea' was a great weekend

had a great weekend in harrington..'poets by the sea' comp..compered by greg north...special guests and judges were peter capp from wa..gabby from gloucester and glennie palmer and the one and only dave proust..we got up close and personal and got to meet each of them...and saw some terrific talent on show,...world class stuff..I had the honour of being 'blooded' at poet's brawl breakfast competition..won second prize with my poem 'pebbles'...we were given or actually we had to 'bid' for one of seven topics to write a poem over the weekend.which actually equated to 1 hour, when allowing for sleep, and in and out of events..it's a bit like trying to bake a cake in 5 minutes.(not that i've baked many cakes mind you)...i went to bed frid night with the theme in my head and woke early sat morning with the words falling out ..must have been the old subconscious poet putting the words together in my sleep..anyway managed to get it out onto the pc sat morning..what a great weekend recommend not to miss it !! ..we were entetained by the legends themselves...as well as seeing psome pretty done good new entries...the quality of most of the poetry was first class..there is some real talent out there!! and it makes you humble when you see and hear it, It is to be an annual event at harrington..one of the prettiest little coastal towns you'll ever see...put it in your diary for next year, as a must do...i also did tamworth the weekend before, will give you a posting on that .later if anyone is interested

Thanks for the report. Congratulations on your second place. Well done.
It is always great to hear news from the events I can't get to. I am keen to know, 1)How many poets were in the brawl 2) What was your topic? Who else was there ( ie names we should know). Where did you stay? Is there a caravan park and was it full?
