some great piccies there Stephen - too cold for me though I remember it from growing up in UK and couldn't/can't understand the fascination that Australians had/have for the stuff - although to be fair we get the unlikely combination here of snow and sunshine so possibly that is the attraction.

Thanks, Maureen. You are right, of course - snow can be beautiful, but it can also be terrifying - and lethal. The key is to be prepared. Have the right gear. Know your way around. It is best to be introduced by somebody experienced. You shouldn't really get cold in the snow. If you do, it can be very difficult to get warm again.
