Ellis asked me about entering the Tamworth Songwriters Association's Nation Country Music Song Writing Competition held each year in Tamworth during the Festival.
Ellis said he wanted to try to put his skill with writing in another format and with good results.
He picked up one of the finalist spots in 2010 and again this year in 2011.
Well done mate.
A number of finalists over the years have been bush poets and that's a gong for bush poets.
