What about A New CD

Post by william williams » Mon Feb 14, 2011 10:43 am

WELL I’M GUNNA That’s what most people say, I’m Gunna
so why not have a go, you have the ability, so why not use it
the ABPA needs help and you can give it.
All that is needed is a few minutes of your time and your voice and a way to record it
and turn it into MWA or MP3 and email it to yours truly.

What was that you said you don’t know how well there is Audacity which is free on the internet.
There is Magix program that I use and I am sure there are others programs around.

What was that you say your voice is not suitable for recording.
Have you tried, you may get a pleasant surprise.
Well I’m scared to have a go I mite make a mess of it.
So what let me and the adjudicator be the judge of that.
I don’t know if I am capable.
If you can talk at the table then you are able to recite Gregory North learnt didn’t he
But I cannot remember my words in front of an audience
So what you are not in front of people, and you can read out aloud can’t you

So come on members let us all pull together and make this work
Because it won’t work unless we and I repeat we have a go
Come on Manfred how about you. There is four contributions so far a lot more are needed
If we keep them to say three or four minutes each a lot more members can be in it
And a limit to one poem or yarn person will be on it , mind you send in several so a choice may be made

Bill and I had a bit of a chat about this and it is such a good idea and worth at least having a go at - if everyone co operates we could possibly get one up and running pretty quickly and see how it goes at least. It could be a dismal failure but do we really think that would be the case?

How nice would it be to be able to present a cheque to eg Guide dogs for the Blind - and what a boost for Bush Poetry in general to have an actual CD out there 'showing' the talents of the great bunch of poets that we have on board.

Another thought was that were we able to get our ducks in a row and get one out to coincide with Anzac Day it would be an opportunity to showcase some of our "Lest we Forget' poems as well and I reckon that the local RSL clubs if approached would be happy to help with sales if they were one of the beneficiaries of funds raised - and they could also promote it through their own newsletters etc.

Just a thought folks - but for it to work you need to get those recordings to Bill .... if you have any queries re doing it then I know Bill is only to happy to help, if you let him know what your particular concern is. To date think he has 4 recordings and that falls far short of the number required. For an hour or so of your time even less if you nail the recording the first time around you could be part of a ground breaking concept in Bush Poetry - who knows we might even go down in the annals of history......

Cheers

Maureen

Well wouldn't you know it... I cant find the file with the poem in it.. I will have to get my 11 year old grandson, Calvin, to come and show me how the programme works. Being a Mac it is Garageband. Mind you I got it to work the firt time I tried. I'll have another bash after I finish the ironing.
