There's a word that's been invented for exactly that situation, Heather and Terry. It's called "phubbing", which is short for "phone-snubbing".

There's no end to it David we also have sexting and probably the less said about that the better.
I can't help but think that we have been hoodwinked into a very expensive habit that is raking in billions worldwide. It's possibly the most successful con of all time because it's convinced a large part of the worlds population to sign up to a never ending cash stream for the promoters - talk about rivers of gold. And some are really hooked, they simply have to have their phone with them at all times. The other worrying aspect is that it's slowly but surely infecting even the non believers.
Cheers Terry

Hate them with a passion and you are so right Heather - Rude is exactly how I describe them as well. As for the kids who use them we have a generation or maybe 2 now that know how to communicate but have no communication skills - a trained parrot could do as well, and it is no wonder they can't spell with all the text talk they use.
I enjoyed the poem Terry as well, topical and up to the minute and no doubt the bush bit represented by the abscence of bars on the mobile phone
We get that - doubt city kids would though.

Hi Maureen,
It's been so hot over here that I had given up trying to write anything, but a short poem like this seemed worth having a go at.
Interestingly I had started to write something quite different then this popped into my head - one of Zondrae's elbow poems as she used to call them.
Cheers
