Re: Lend Me An Ear
Goodonya Terry. I don't see any problem in the metre. Anyway that's a problem for the writer not the reader

G/day Neville
I think the meter's ok I was thinking perhaps there could be a better choice of words here and there.
But I guess that's how all writers are, we always think it can be done better - and probably right as well.
Cheers Terry

Re: Lend Me An Ear
That's bonza Terry. The problem you raised about the meter is probably because it is pretty much a 'galloping' one, much suited to fast action. So it would be a tad difficult to write, say, a romantic poem using it eg 'I love you my darling you've captured my heart'.....
Perhaps if you choose a serious subject that lends itself to this 'fast moving' meter....as you have pretty much achieved here....but with plenty of 'action' taking place?
BTW yesterday, I wrote a little reply to post here but my pc was still being hormonal & it would not post. So I'll post it here, now that the flaming thing is behaving itself.....for now.
How curious. Both Terry and Stephen have invited us all to go a-journeying with them. Is this psychic phenomena?
I enjoyed both poems, & I must say they gave a lift to my morning. Thanks mates.

Hi Glenny,
By a strange a coincidence, just last night, I was reading a copy of 'Free Expressions' that had recently been sent to me and noticed Milton Taylor's beautifully written poem that won this years Blackened Billy 'REMEMBER', has used the same meter as this poem.
I take your point about the choice of the type of poem that may suit this meter and I reckon you're right.
Glad you enjoyed it Glenny.

Hi Manfred,
Just got around to making that change you suggested, it definitely improves it.

I’ll tell you more stories next time I pass through.
If it's as good as that one Terry ... I'm waiting.
Maureen is spot on ... it does sing to 'On Top of Old Smokey' but it's so much better a lyric than that old piece of cheese cake.

Thanks Irene
G/day Wazza,
I hadn't actually thought of a tune for it.
Must give it a bit of thought.
Thanks for the comment.
