Speaking of fish and chips, a mate of mine fancied himself as gun cooker of chips in the camp oven.
I can remember waiting for what seemed like hours some nights; to be fair He got it right most times.
When we were working in the southern part of the goldfields most stations had a dam or two full of Yabbies,
so we'd often get a feed and usually had chips with them.
We always got them after we'd finished work, so it was already late by the time we'd cooked them.
I can still taste them. (The Yabbies)
