and the dear little girl wrote a story, with the Title….’Murder by Death.’..in which the dinner guests were consecutively ‘mured.’

Not to forget their father’s ‘Octopus with ten testicles.’ And how he couldn’t ‘masturbate’ his food….and how he was expecting Marilyn Munroe to appear on TV, but it turned out to be Marlon Brando. He couldn’t help it. It was in his genes. Lunch with his family was a Humorist’s Nirvana. (I think I’ve discovered the link.)

Mispronunciations and sloppy grammar have been the bane of older generations since time began.
It has been ever thus.
However I constantly wonder why so many young girls and young women now speak with an obviously false croaky voice. It seems that it is the fashion and I find it very annoying.
On the subject of pronunciation keep an eye on the leader of the opposition Bill Shorten. He constantly says wiff for with and often has trouble with pronouncing "th."

I hadn't noticed croaky voices. Must be a NSW thing!

No Heather, he often slips and in fact he completely lost it the other night in his reply to the budget speech, so much so that they took the camera off him. He is improving but I think the poor man has a speech impediment.
I think the false croaky voice thing is pretty well universal as I have heard young people, mainly girls,
in other countries interviewed and they were doing it too.
The other thing I find annoying is the many women tv presenters who imitate Jana Wendt's style of speaking. Jana, who appeared on Sixty Minutes, A Current Affair, etcetera had a distinctive manner of speaking which now seems to be the most copied "voice" on tv.
