The Bluebird
The chimpanzee is big and brown and makes a lot of din.
The dolphin has a curving mouth, mistaken for a grin.
The beetle has a shiny back and butts a naked globe,
But the bluebird stuns to silence all, adorned in royal robe.
The elephant has legs like trees, and shakes the forest floor.
The squirrel prizes acorns, and creates a winter store.
The porcupine has handsome quills that greatly boost its size,
But the bluebird has a fierce stare, and pins you with its eyes.
The blue whale has a tiny throat and swallows tons of krill.
The tiger snake has venom that’s designed to quickly kill.
The armadillo wears broad plates, just like a jousting knight,
But the bluebird shines like burnished brass against the fading light.
The albatross can fly for days and never flap a wing.
The magpie captures many hearts each time it starts to sing.
The wedge-tailed eagle is renowned for quite prodigious deeds,
But the bluebird turns its back on all, and picks at grubs and seeds.

Re: The Bluebird
That's interesting, Shelley. I wasn't aware of that. Thanks. (I think...)

Re: The Bluebird
Well, something about it just reminded me of "The Singing Garden". Maybe not a direct connection, but definitely a resemblance!
