Homework August 2019 'Bush Tucker'
Harry borrowed these prompts so I thought it was only fair that I posted my effort here as well
Bush Tucker
He had handed me some mildewed rolls as though they were a treat,
And he reckoned that his cooking skills, were always hard to beat.
Get that into you old son, it tastes a bit like garlic bread,
it’s goanna oil I used to cook my Bacon Bones he said.
Then he poured me out a mugful of his special type homebrew
And I should have chucked it out then from past failures that I knew
But he reckoned that it tastes a bit like scotch and ginger wine
and I told him that he really was a rotten lying swine
so, we sit about there telling lies - there’s nothing else to do;
then he’s on about bed socks, he’s like that when he’s had a few.
Next he reckoned he’d been shooting Roo’s out on a misty night;
not a problem though he reckoned, for he had a bright fog light.

Well you certainly put those prompts to good use
   I bet your mate lies about the size of the fish he catches as well

Hi Maureen
Pretty well done that set of prompts to death I reckon.
Did I tell you that one about …… yeah, I'm sure I did.
Cheers

A good light-hearted poem that I reckon could be lengthened into quite an interesting longer tale somewhere down the track, Terry !

G/day Catherine
A bit different to my usual efforts - a bit of fun really.
Mind you I've known a bloke or two who would fit the picture.
Cheers and thanks

Good one Terry - and yes, sounds like a few old codgers I've come across too.
